Having A Baby? What To Know

Posted on: 20 September 2019

Having a baby is a life-changing event. Not only does your body go through major changes in preparation for birth, but you will also see major changes after having your baby. Having a child can have a major impact on more than just your health; your finances will also be affected. During this process, obstetrics services will be needed. These services are performed by an obstetrician and will help you prepare and recover from childbirth. Here's what you should know about having a baby.

What Your Obstetrician Does

Your obstetrician, often called an OBGYN, is central to your care during and after pregnancy. They will offer care while you are pregnant, deliver your baby, and offer the needed postnatal care. During your pregnancy, your OBGYN will monitor your baby's growth and development through ultrasounds and advise you on diet and exercise. They will also monitor you for any health issues that may arise, such as gestational diabetes. Any questions you have regarding pregnancy and childbirth can be answered by an OBGYN. They will also deliver your baby and monitor your health in the following months after childbirth.

The Cost of Obstetrics

For most women, obstetrics services are a necessary part of the pregnancy and childbirth process. However, it's important to note that costs can vary depending on health insurance policies and whether or not you have complications during pregnancy or childbirth. On average, prenatal care will cost around $2,000 in total. Delivery can vary greatly in price. If you do not have insurance, it will cost anywhere from $9,000 to $17,000 for an uncomplicated delivery and between $14,000 and $25,000 for a delivery with complications. With insurance, you can expect to pay between $500 and $3,000 for delivery.

How Often You Need to See Your OBGYN

If you are having a baby, knowing how often you need to see the OBGYN is key. Between weeks 4 and 28 of your pregnancy, you will typically need to see the OBYGN once per month. Between weeks 28 and 36, you will typically need a prenatal visit every 2 weeks. Between weeks 36 and 40, weekly visits will be required. Regular prenatal care is a must for ensuring that your baby is developing properly and to catch any potential health issues.

If you are having a baby, there are a few things to know. First, knowing what your obstetrician does and how they can help you is important. The cost of prenatal care and delivery can vary but typically works out to at least a few thousand dollars. Knowing how often you need to see your obstetrician and staying on schedule for your appointments is also a necessity. Call a medical professional like Xiao-Mei Zeng MD for more information.

All About OBGYN Services

Hello. I’m Kaitlyn Masters. Welcome to my website about OBGYN services. When I was pregnant with my first child, I had severe morning sickness throughout the entire pregnancy. It was so bad that I had to have regular IV fluids to keep my baby and I hydrated and healthy. My OBGYN acted as a constant source of support in keeping us healthy and comfortable through this process. I decided to create this site to help others understand the value of having a quality OBGYN on your side. Whether you are pregnant or never plan to be, you can benefit from having this professional looking out for you.
